Overview

In this milestone, couples are preparing, dreaming, and praying for parenthood through birth or adoption, and we want to connect with you. We would love to partner with you to help and guide you through what to expect spiritually when you are expecting or going through the adoption/foster care process.

We understand that parenthood starts for every couple at different times and sometimes in ways you never would have thought. One of those ways is through adoption/foster care. If this is a path you and your spouse have decided to follow or are considering, we would love to give you some resources and connect you with families who have experienced these awesome opportunities.

Development Stage:

In this stage parents are beginning to pray and fast for the future children God may bless them with. The process of dreaming and planning for parenthood through birth or adoption/foster care begins here. We believe taking the time to ask God to prepare the parents emotionally, physically, and spiritually is vital during this stage to prepare for the wonders of parenthood.

  • Trusting God’s Time and Plan: God’s plan and time for parenthood looks different for everyone.
  • Increased Communication: Couples often anticipate discussing parenting styles, values, and expectations more openly.
  • Role Adjustments: There may be expectations about changing roles, with both partners considering how they will divide responsibilities.
  • Emotional Changes: Expecting heightened emotions, from joy to anxiety, as they navigate the transition to parenthood.
  • Financial Planning: Couples often prepare for new financial responsibilities, including budgeting for baby supplies and childcare.
  • Time Management: Anticipating a shift in how they spend their time, balancing personal interests, work, and family life.
  • Support Systems: Many couples expect to lean on friends and family for support and advice, both during pregnancy and after the baby arrives.
  • Health and Wellness: Prioritizing physical and mental health becomes crucial, with expectations around prenatal care and postpartum recovery.
  • Bonding Experiences: Couples may look forward to creating shared experiences as they prepare for and welcome their new child.
  • Learning and Growth: Embracing the idea that they will learn and grow together through challenges and successes in parenting.
